Experience producing podcasts I have been making Audiovisual Cultures with a consistent biweekly output for four years. It is an arts and culture podcast exploring different aspects across film, art and media with an emphasis on their significance in or impact on culture more broadly. The episode format is determined each time by the topic and who is involved and includes interviews with practitioners or researchers about their work, analysis of specific works or phenomena with a guest or co-host, scripted essays, panel discussions, and conference coverage. In the past couple of years I have mostly recorded remotely using Zoom, Zencastr or live streams and have connected with fascinating guests all over the world. Writer In Residence In the past couple of years I have been transitioning from an academic career to becoming an active contributor to cultural production who troubles and teases the boundaries between the creative and the critical. Usually attached to good news, from home in Northern Ireland I've been seeing much bemoaning of the lack of critical engagement with the arts and how voiceless and unseen artists feel due to this. In response I find myself torn, initially internally screaming: I'm right here and yous have been actively ignoring me for twelve years! And the platforms where people like me used to discuss your work spluttered to closure in the years following the 2008 economic crash and *I can't live off air and good will!* Ahem.
